Listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, this beautiful fortress was made by King Jeongjo in 1796
to house and honour the remains of his father, Prince Sado.
He had intentions to move the capital to Suwon, away from the unlucky Seoul.
However, this didn't happen.
The walls go around 5.7 kilometers and surround Paldalsan Mountain. ๐๏ธ
๐ธ๐ฅ Haenggungdong – Haengridang Gil ๐ฅ๐ธ
You've seen some of the old; now get some of the new!
Haengnidan-gil Road has around 90 unique shops,
ranging from modern cafés and pottery studios to photography galleries. ๐ธ
This neighborhood is one of the best in Suwon due to its lively atmosphere!
The neighborhood has plenty of shops, restaurants, and many other things,
while its location in the city center makes it easily accessible.
Haenggungdong is also home to a Mural Village,
so murals are scattered all around the place.
Some of the artwork there pays homage to the traditional history and culture of the area,
while others is just pure fun imagery.๐จ
๐๏ธ Suwon Nammun Market ๐๏ธ
Suwon Nammun Market is known as the only market in Korean history that was established by a monarch.๐
King Jeongjo of Joseon gathered merchants from multiple provinces to create a new market in Suwon.
The market originally focused on distributing ginseng and traditional Korean hats to help boost the local economy.
๐๏ธ Korean Folk Village ๐๏ธ
This folk village keeps traditional Korean practices alive through cultural classes, and seasonal customs.
Even the architecture has been restored to make it look like the Joseon-style homes! ๐
This village is home to music performances, traditional wedding ceremonies,

Every May, the "Welcome to Joseon" event transports tourists back to the Joseon dynasty. ๐ธ
