The street demonstrates newtro (new-retro) aesthetics due to the remaining
old and worn buildings built during the 1960s and '70s.
Hwangnidan Street is near Cheomseongdae Observatory, Daereungwon Ancient Tombs, and other major tourist sites,
allowing the street to become a popular Gyeongju attraction as well.
