We kicked off our day at the Hwacheon Traditional Market,
a welcoming space where the pace is easy and the food is fantastically fresh.
Locals greeted us with warm smiles as we strolled through aisles of mountain vegetables, handmade noodles,ย
and jars of locally fermented delicacies. ๐๐ซ๐ฅฌ
Itโs a haven for curious foodies and a great place for families to explore the local way of life.
Kids got excited over street treats, and we found a few unique souvenirs along the way.
Must-Try: The spicy tteok galbi (grilled short rib patties) and, of course, anything made with Hwacheon-grown tomatoes!
With bags full of snacks and hearts full of charm,
we made our way to the Hwacheon Tomato Festival โ the juiciest party of the summer! ๐

Held right in the center of town, this high-energy event is everything you didnโt know you needed:
giant tomato pools, slippery slides, tomato-themed games, and live music echoing through the valley.
๐๐ฆ We kicked off our shoes, joined the tomato toss, and dove into a pool of red fun like kids at recess.
Fun Fact: Hwacheonโs high-altitude farms grow some of Koreaโs sweetest, most flavorful tomatoes โ and the whole festival is a celebration of their harvest.
From tomato wrestling to cooking demos,
the festival had something for every age and energy level
